Device & Fleet Management questions
Do I need to factory reset a phone to manage it?
Only for full Device Owner enrolment, which is why that path is meant for company-issued handsets. Everything else works on a normally installed app, so personal phones are never reset.
Can you read the IMEI automatically?
On devices enrolled as Device Owner, yes. From Android 10 onward Google reserves that read for privileged apps, so on any other setup the IMEI is entered by an administrator instead.
Does this let you see employees' personal data?
No. The agent reports device telemetry and location, not personal messages, photos or accounts, and the invasive inventory permissions ship only in the dedicated agent build.
What happens if an employee leaves?
Issue a selective wipe. The app's data, tokens and keys are cleared and the device is signed out, while the person keeps their own phone and content.
